This year IB1 students excelled themselves in generating ideas relating to the Group Four Project.
Together with our partners in Audentes School, Tallinn, the project paid homage to the 150th anniversary of the periodic tables. Thus, with the theme “periodicity” in mind, students from both schools brainstormed ideas for investigation, with each group containing a physicist, biologist and chemist. One group set about investigating tide pools, another measured heartrate and blood pressure during exercise and a third explored evaporation and condensation. The presentations afterwards were exceptional. Tanel, a science teacher from Tallinn, reckoned that the presentations were every bit as good as undergraduate ones. Anniina, our own chemistry teacher, described the whole experience as “fun” and something to anticipate with pleasure next year. Long may this sort of practical collaboration continue!
