High time to put the spotlight of excellence on CAS activities and TOK presentations.
IB CORE CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES TAKE CENTRE STAGE!
After years of successfully concluding the EE with a series of interviews in front of an appreciative IB audience, we decided it was high time to put the spotlight of excellence on CAS activities and TOK presentations.
To this end, in CAS, we invited a group of students (Turna, Meixi, Aliisa and Amalie) to talk about their initiative to collect and recycle bottles as a way of raising funds for charity as well as raise issues about consumerism and waste. We invited the director (Lila), cast and crew from the staging of The Importance of Being Earnest to discuss their ambitious plans to mount a production over two consecutive evenings after half a year of planning and rehearsals. There were moments when the team doubted the enterprise would ever succeed but perseverance led to a very successful outcome and thunderous applause.
On the TOK front we learnt about the significance and dangers of making generalizations about the world around us from Amanda and gained insight into the knowledge implications of the sinking of the Vasa on its maiden voyage in 1628 from Edvin.
Both sessions sped by with good humor and a lightness of touch. Let´s make this a permanent fixture in the calendar from now on.
