Etelä-Tapiolan lukio IB-linja
Intake places 35 – aloituspaikkoja 35
International Baccalaureate-ohjelma on arvostettu kansainvälinen koulutusohjelma, jonka päätteeksi suoritetaan suomalaista ylioppilastutkintoa vastaava IB-tutkinto. Kaksivuotista IB-ohjelmaa edeltää Pre-IB-vuosi, joka opiskellaan suomalaisen lukion opetussuunnitelman mukaan. IB-järjestön hyväksymät oppiaineet on jaettu kuuteen ryhmään. Näiden lisäksi opiskelijan on suoritettava kurssi tiedonteoriasta (Theory of Knowledge), laadittava tutkielma (Extended Essay) ja osallistuttava CAS-toimintaan (Creativity, Action and Service). IB-linjalle haetaan yhteishaussa. Jokaisen hakijan on osallistuttava valintakokeeseen. Se koostuu äidinkielen, matematiikan ja englannin kokeista. Puolet hakupisteistä tulee kokeista ja toinen puoli peruskoulun päättötodistuksen lukuaineiden keskiarvosta. Maksimipistemäärä on 20 pistettä. Valintakoe järjestetään Etelä-Tapiolan lukiossa keskiviikkona 25.4.2012 klo 13.30.
This is a challenging new programme in Etelä-Tapiola, which offers intellectual rigour and social responsibility to academically able students seeking success at the pre-university level. The Diploma Programme fosters mathematical ability, linguistic competence in at least two languages, science skills and familiarity with humanities. In addition students are encouraged to perform, participate in sports and serve the community. Thus, IB promotes both academic ability and personal growth.
Entrance requirements
The English language programme has its own code on the general application form for lukio. In addition students must complete a separate
application form available from the above website or the IB co-ordinator.
The international programme demands a strong commitment from those who seek to join. All applicants will be tested for English and Mathematical skills. Mother tongue Finnish speakers and/or students of Äidinkieli in lower secondary school will be tested in this subject, too, as a pre-condition to entry. Half the points (10) are based on performance in the entrance test and the other half (10) upon achievement in lower secondary school. Applicants outside of Finland are required to sit the entrance test in the nearest Finnish Consulate/Embassy and furnish a satisfactory school report. All applicants, regardless of place of origin, must process their applications through the joint application procedure (www.haenyt.fi).
The IB Diploma Programme (DP)
This is a rigorous pre-university programme for academically able students. The DP is widely recognised and respected by universities around the world and enjoys full parity with the national Finnish matriculation examination within Finland. The DP is a two-year programme. Finnish lukio lasts three years. Thus, there is a “pre-DP” year, based on the Finnish national curriculum, which precedes the International Baccalaureate.
Diploma domains of knowledge offered at Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL):
Group 1: First Language: Finnish SL/HL English Language and Literature SL/HL School-supported language* SL

As an alternative to Visual Arts in group 6 a candidate may select an additional subject from groups 1–4. Other compulsory elements in the programme include Theory of Knowledge (TOK), an Extended Essay and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS). The availability of subjects each year will reflect the uptake among students. At least seven students are required to subscribe to a subject in order for the courses to run.
* The school-supported language option is available to native speakers of major languages. Such candidates are advised to contact the IB coordinator to discuss this option.
